Linux Mint for Beginners
In this class we will slowly and methodically learn a great Operating System, Linux Mint. This OS can be installed on Windows and Mac computers with a flash drive and is free to install on as many computers as you like. No licensing to pay for, Linux is Open Source, secure and the user interface is very similar to Windows XP that we all liked. Don’t forget that Microsoft has indicated that the security updates for Windows 10 will stop in October, so you will need to replace it with a secure operating system, or suffer the consequences.
We will cover:
How to surf the internet safely with the integrated Firefox web browser.
How to easily access our email accounts.
How to work with photos and music.
How to navigate the file system.
How to use Libre Office, the free word processing suite to write letters, create spreadsheets, etc.
If you bring a computer to this class, we will install Linux Mint 22.1 on it for you.
Class Requirements:
Be somewhat familiar with using a computer and mouse.
